ABOUT ME

I not only love to cook, I love to create my own recipes using unique flavor combinations and fresh ingredients. I also love to learn the science behind what I cook often using food as the basis for science experiments for school and at home.

Recently I created a barbeque sauce using flavored balsamic vinegar and unique flavors. My combinations won praise from family and friends. I began to sell my original sauce at church bazaars, which led to repeated requests and the addition of a spicy version of my original sauce and later an olive oil based marinade.

I've turned what I love to do, into a real business.
I'm the owner of Kyle's Culinary Creations, LLC, an artisan sauce and marinade company started in 2016. I'm a member of a commercial kitchen incubator, Union Kitchen DC, located in Washington, DC.

I'm reformulating my sauces and marinades for the specialty food market, adding organic and natural ingredients to my products. It is my goal to have my sauces and marinades sold in local and regional specialty food stores; expand my brand nationally and include items beyond sauces and marinades.

RECOGNITION

I've competed locally in food competitions winning 2nd place with my Garbanzo Bean Vegetarian Chili in the Healthy Kids Cook Off in Howard County in 2016.

As part of a three-person team, we won first place for our Steak Kabobs and Fruit/Vegetable Kabobs in the Howard County 4H Iron Chef Competition in 2015. The team used my watermelon salad dressing and thick and spicy barbeque sauce in its recipes.

SOME CREATIONS

A few examples of my unique foods and flavors include:

  • making homemade pastas and adding finely chopped vegetables (carrots and cucumbers) to the dough before rolling and cutting
  • turning homemade dehydrated Granny Smith apples into a fine powder and combining the powder with fresh Tulsi leaves and cinnamon to make a tea
  • making three flavors (barbeque, herbs de provence, and cinnamon sugar) of almond chips using the skins of almonds
  • using fresh lavender, local honey, and vanilla to create a frosting
  • making homemade fruit and nut butters and flavored whipped creams

GIVING BACK

I volunteer at my church food pantry, helping to organize and stock shelves with non-perishable foods.

As part of a research project at school, I wrote a paper on the Effects of Income on Healthy Food Choices.
